How many times can we do it again? NEW!
– Creativity, aesthetics, and sustainability in preschool practice
This lecture is aimed at those who want to work creatively and discover the magic in everyday life and familiar surroundings.
How can we see the world with new eyes and find creative opportunities in what we already have around us? For example, can that odd mitten left behind in the hallway be transformed into a useful material in the textile corner instead of becoming a source of irritation or ending up in the trash bag?
Using inspiring and concrete examples, studio artist Anna Eckert and educator Kerstin Nordenstam fromReMida, a creative recycling center, demonstrate how materials can be used in unexpected and imaginative ways in everyday preschool life.
Can we challenge and reverse the idea that "it's done now" and instead think about "how can we do this again?" – perhaps with additions that create new and different ways of doing things. With a curious eye, care for what we have, and a focus on joint exploration, we can open up sustainable and democratic processes in preschool practice.
“Children should be given time, space, and peace to engage in their own creative activities. They should be given the opportunity to explore, reflect on, and describe their surroundings. Education should give children the opportunity to experience, express, and communicate through various aesthetic forms of expression such as images, shapes, drama, movement, song, music, and dance. This includes giving children the opportunity to construct, shape, and create using different materials and techniques. In this way, creativity is both a content and a method in preschool to promote children's development and learning."Lpfö 18 revised 2025
