So, what's so special about being a Reggio Emilia-inspired teacher in preschool today and in the future?

What Loris Malaguzzi pointed out is that the role of the educator is very multifaceted. Being a Reggio Emilia-inspired educator means that you must be able to relate to and share the values and view of knowledge that the municipal preschools in Reggio Emilia have developed. You must be able to do this in relation to our own culture and history surrounding preschool, children, and learning, as well as in dialogue with our national steering documents.
It is also about an approach where cooperative learning, differences, the perspective of the hundred languages, and the view of the role of preschool in building a democracy are important starting points.
As an educator, you also work with both project planning and educational documentation as common tools together with both educators and studio teachers.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Reggio Emilia Institute's teacher training program is developed and run in close collaboration with preschools in Reggio Emilia, so that we can better understand what it means to be a Reggio Emilia-inspired teacher in Sweden.

Men, vi kommer inte att avbilda eller kopiera det de gör utan använda dem som en spegel för att få syn på vårt eget sammanhang.

FOR WHOM?

The Reggio Emilia Institute's teacher training program is aimed at all Reggio Emilia-inspired preschools that want to develop the role of the teacher. It is aimed at anyone who wants to be challenged, who has been working in the field for a long time and who wants to move forward and take new steps in project planning, reflection, the perspective of the hundred languages, and the view of the democratic role of preschool. The training is aimed at those who want to try to understand, from as many aspects as possible, what it means to be a Reggio Emilia-inspired educator and to develop the preschool with values that go beyond the curriculum. This training is primarily aimed at educators who have a college degree and who work in preschools or preschool classes. It is also important that you have the support of your organization behind you, that they support your application. Priority will also be given to those who have knowledge of how to work with projects and educational documentation – and to those who have the opportunity to practice in their own work team in order to involve everyone in this process.

This is a training program that really makes a difference, both for me as an educator and for me personally. For example, I feel the difference in that I can now enrich in a hundred languages, something that allows children to find their language and become their "best" selves, together with others. Word has spread throughout the departments that children now have more opportunities in terms of environment and materials than before.

Therese Ottoson Erixon, Växjö

Teacher training presented me with many new challenges. It broadened my horizons in various thought processes. It created opportunities for me, children, and colleagues to grow and transform. Willingness – daring – daring – willingness. Educational somersaults – trial thinking with others – spaghetti mix – joy. Preschool is evolving – we are transforming together! Challenges – research Rethinking – security – professionalism – approach – wonder – connect – deepen – change. Keeping processes alive, giving slowness time. Encourage – inspire – take a stand. Highlight children, educators, and preschool. Think different thoughts out loud. Sounding board – quality – diversity – democracy Differences enrich. Together, it becomes possible.

The training has given me inspiration, joy, and knowledge. It is so exciting to be able to continue this development work together with children, colleagues, and guardians. It has also spread so that we use process reflection all the time and throughout the entire unit.
